Bow-tastic Bow's

Hi everybody :) It's Day 15 on lockdown here in the UK and of course it is sunny and simply beautiful. I have no idea where the rain and cloudy skies have gone, but I am sure they will be back as soon as the lockdown has finished haha.

But on a different note, here is the second blog to support and introduce another wonderful small business to you all. Today its all about looking gorgeous and stylish - whatever the world throws at you. Today its's all about Bow Ties. And you know that your dog should and need one for a walk, for dinner and to look the part for the day at the home office :)

So have a read and please do share it with friends.

Well you know, The Beagles and myself are Bow Tie lovers and addicts. It all started with Porthos, then Lucy got some girly ones and Archie kept the tradition. We know are the proud owners of about 30 bows. One for each occasion. For walks, dinner dates, one for the city and one for the countryside. Well you know, one has to look the part :)

How long are you in business for?

The creation of Bow Ties stared about three years ago.

What made you start your business?

My love of all things dog related! I struggled to find a lovely collar that wasn’t mass produced and unique so decided to make my own! My love affair with dogs and fashion began when I was just 5 years old.  I would often discard my dolls from their pram in favour of next doors Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who would happily sit for hours wearing the doll’s hat whilst I pushed her up and down the street. True Story.

It is no surprise therefore that I now own a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named ‘Milo’ who is my second Cavalier. My first boy was named ‘Max’ and he was my inspiration for my business.
I adore working with quality fabrics and often get lost for hours in fabric shops whilst hunting for my next design. I’m usually found at my sewing machine but on the rare few hours away from it, I love walking Milo and spending time with my husband, family and friends.

What are you offering?

We make beautiful handmade dog collars, leads and accessories for the fashion conscious dog… and their humans! We make both ‘Harris Tweed’ and Fabric collars, leads, dickie bows, bandanas and harnesses and are constantly working to make new items and ranges.

What is the best thing about your business?

I love seeing just how amazing the lovely dogs look and how happy the humans are too with their new doggy outfit! We love meeting people (and dogs of course!) at various events and I adore working with ‘Harris Tweed’ every day which is such a beautiful fabric.

Are you having a shop or online only?

We don’t have a bricks and mortar store, but we are online and also exhibit at various makers markets, artisan markets and festivals around the UK. All of our events can be found on our website www.handmade.dog

Any fun or interesting facts about your business ...

I’ve been asked to make all sorts of things including a harness and lead for a pig! I’ll always try to accommodate requests where they are possible and love a challenge! I deliver all over the world and love seeing pictures of our collars in their new homes! I think the furthest we have sent a collar to so far is Tasmania!

Anything special you would like to tell customers about you.

I’m a one band and work with my lovely dog Milo alongside me every day. I’m always available to answer any questions and queries, and would love to hear from you! I’m also a ‘Harris Tweed’ addict and try to visit the Island to see the weavers in action each year!
