Barkzealand

- An out of this World Pet Photography Retreat -  After 11,748 mi and about 30h flight time, 12h time zone change (I arrived in the future) and stoping in two different countries, I arrived in Queenstown, New Zealand. My 34th country and my 5th continent - doing well before my big birthday (29+). So here we go, for another Out of this World Pet Photography Retreat. This time it was held in New Zealand - called Barkzealand. And how could I have said no to flying around the world on a crazy long flight to photograph doggies in one of the most amazing countries in this world. Well I said yes, so have a look to what we got up to, apart from being amazed every single day , how beautiful and magical this country really is.  From shooting in quaint little New Zealand villages, to epic mountain top views up to roaring rivers. We did it all. Plus a Sheepdog Adventure, to which we will come to later.

First up was a visit in an Apple Orchard and a little town called Cromwell. Cromwell Town got moved back in the 1990's to make space for the Clyde Dam. Today you can still see some of the ruins. So here we go, some of the amazing dogs we photographed at the historic part of Cromwell.

Our next adventure took us to to the famous Shot Over River!  The place where you enter one of those fast white water boats and you go down a canyon and scream for your life. Well we did not do this :) We opted for a much quieter and more fun (in my eyes) afternoon, photographing doggies at the edge of the river and showcasing them.  The river really was the pawfect backdrop, with its blue colours, wild canyon and mountains in the background. We had a little Schnauzer, two Border Collies and also a little Beagle Puppy. I LOVED the Beagle and I think it was the perfect Barka Bairthday present. He was amazing and we did have more cuddles then I actually took photos of him. But then I am a Beagle mum :)
And of course we had to take a Beagle Selfie :D  Our next Highlight was the one we all waited for. Our epic Mountain Top Shoot. We went up to a little spot on the side of the road, where we could see Coronet Peak (1649m), the surrounding peaks, up to Queenstown. A truly breathtaking spot.
Our last shoot was a little washed out. Well there is rain in paradise. Even so the rain just added some extra magic to the day and we did the best we could to show just how beautiful Arrowtown can be, in the rain.

So yes, rain can add a little magic to a grey and rainy day. And you know, after every rain, there is a rainbow to find. And New Zealand is the county of Rainbows. We did see a couple.

And with this out Barkzealand Adventure ended. Not for all of us, as we had a little road trip planned and also my journey also brought me to Sydney, Australia. But more about this later. For now I would love to share with you all what makes the Barka Adventures so special - its the Barkas. From the instructors like Kaylee, Charlotte and Nicole to everyone who is attending. We are a lovely crazy bunch from around the globe, who share the love for dogs and Dog Photography. It is our passion, our drive and our love. We are Barka's and we love it.

And I know you all love those fun Behind the Scene Shots, here we are. Enjoy and Smile :D
Barkzealand, I had a blast and loved every minute of it. I will come back to this amazing country, to see and explore more, as it is simply breathtaking.
Where will the next one be???
